In the past 5 years, there have been 17,055 fire incidents nationwide, resulting in 433 fatalities, 790 injuries, estimated property damage of over 7 trillion VND, and more than 7,500 hectares of forests affected. The primary causes are system failures and electrical equipment malfunctions, accounting for approximately 45% of incidents.

Urban areas account for over 60% of fire incidents. Fires and the resulting damages are concentrated in residential areas, houses, combined with commercial activities (constituting over 40% of total incidents), and at production facilities, warehouses (making up around 30% of total incidents), among which some fires have led to particularly severe consequences for individuals.

The tragic incidents that have occurred serve as warnings and highlight the urgent situation regarding Fire Prevention and Firefighting, presenting new demands and tasks for the prevention and response to incidents, accidents, and fires. This is crucial to ensure the safety of property and, most importantly, human lives.

In the “Rubik’s Life” program, the topic “Dangers of Homes without Escape Routes” was featured on Vietnam People’s Army Television. Mr. Nguyen Do Tung Cuong – Chairman of the Vietnam Fire and Rescue Police Association raised the issue:

“Even though it’s the early days of summer, fire and explosion incidents have been occurring continuously across the country, leaving behind significant consequences. We can’t help but be shocked by the fire incident at a tea house business in Hai Phong that resulted in 3 fatalities on May 12th. Just a day later, a 3-story house with an attic in Thanh Cong street, Ha Dong district, Hanoi caught fire early in the morning, leading to the loss of 4 lives and leaving many people traumatized and saddened. Notably, these houses are designed in a tube-like structure, and some are even enclosed by a “cage-like” iron fence, sealing off escape routes. So, what should people do to protect themselves and their families from the dangers of fire and explosions?”
